So, first and foremost. This week I’ll be working at New York Comic Con in NYC. I’ll be at the Fanboy Collectibles booth 2937 (and selling some artwork as well.)

Also, I have my first game going through kickstarter right now. Day one and we’re already moving along toward our goal. Deathbot Derby on Kickstarter.

While I could go into all the fine details on the game, and how fun it was to make the artwork for it, you’re better off just clicking the link and checking out the reviews we’ve gotten on it as well as seeing all the ins and outs of the game itself.
It’s a lot of game in a little box, and it’s fun.
If you cant help fund it, please share the link as that gets it seen by more people who may very well be interested in turning their friend’s robots into scrap.

Last but not least, just got my copy of Caustic Comics Insane Tales From The Dead featuring my piece EveVI. There is a lot of cool stuff in this book and the print quality on it is excellent. Proud to be a part of it.

If you want to order your copy, go to www.InsaneTalesFromTheDead.com while supplies last as there are a number of limited edition covers for this book.

That’s all the updates for now. See you at NYCC, and will be working on some more cool projects on twitch after this event is over. www.Twitch.TV/JamesGroelingArt

Gauntlet is something of a post-apocalyptic science fiction story that I have been working on for some time.  The first issue was one of my first forays into a full sized comic book, and although the story came across well, the artwork suffered, as I didnt plan my time for it well enough. For this, the second issue of the storyline, I planned my time much better, allowing for both traditional image making, full time for lettering and editing. All in all a much more successful venture, and a comic I am proud to call my own.

As such, I’m willing to share the full issue for multiple purposes. 1. showcasing what I can do, and 2. hopefully leading to more work in the comic field.

Will share the link to purchase the print volume shortly.

Tapestry Comic.

Earlier this year I was asked to create a comic story for Bloody Pulp Magazine, an independently published comic book collection. At the time I’d been kicking around an idea for a short horror themed series, and decided to give it a go. These images are in grayscale, but the pages are actually being painted in color for a future version of the publication. Hopefully you’ll get to check them out in the not too distant future.

Enjoy the first six pages of the story here.

This year for the NYCC I was asked to work for the company Fanboy Collectibles (booth 2314). The owner, Troy Emmi, was also nice enough to let me put my portfolio up on the counter, with business cards, and prints for sale. Fortunately, I was able to not only work hard making money for his company, but also was able to sell a number of prints to make some extra money for myself.

Here are the two images that were available for sale at the convention. If interested in one, I do have a few of each print left over, send an email and we can work it out.

IamtheNight

I am the Night

Batman looks out over Gotham city from his perch, the gargoyles of the building as his only company. Went with a bit more of a cartoonish looking goofy Batman. Reasons being that first and foremost, I’ve been in need of some playful artwork recently after a number of intensive images for various projects, and secondly, because I have another idea for a Batman piece, which will be very dark in nature and creation, so an opposing image type is a benefit to create first.

Guardians

Guardians

Not only did I want to try a different approach to my image making process for this one, but I also wanted a detailed, but joyous looking character(s), hopefully I’ve been successful in this approach. Would like to think so, as this is the image that sold most at the NYCC

Last year I was part of a group that pitched in comics for a print under the title of ‘Guardian Knight presents’. It was more work than I’d thought it was going to be, being my first full length comic issue. Also learned a lot about what to do, what not to do, how to better things for next time, and really important storytelling elements like pacing and ‘camera’ angles. It was a great learning experience and I look forward to the next issue.

Here’s the copies that I recently had arrive at my place, which was the first time I’d seen the comic in print, and it made me a pretty happy fella.

The cover on the left, featuring all of the characters from each story with Janus (my character) on the upper left. the back cover (left side) was my drawing which also incorporates all the characters.

pretty nifty in my opinion, also great cover art by Leigh Walls.

These are the ones I was sent as samples. If anyone is interested, I’m willing to sign purchased copies. These however are for me, and as gifts.
